How AI Improves Email Deliverability

The deliverability challenge

Getting emails into the inbox — not the spam folder — is harder than ever. ISPs use increasingly sophisticated filters that analyze sender reputation, content patterns, engagement metrics, and authentication protocols. Sender reputation is domain-specific and provider-specific, meaning your domain might have excellent reputation on Gmail but poor reputation on Outlook. Content that works for one recipient domain might trigger spam filters on another. Traditional email APIs give you no visibility into these dynamics, leaving you to debug deliverability issues after the damage is done.

Smart provider routing

AISend maintains real-time deliverability scores for each provider across recipient domains. When you send an email, our AI selects the provider most likely to achieve inbox placement for that specific recipient. If AWS SES has better deliverability to Gmail, we route through SES. If Postmark performs better for corporate domains, we route through Postmark. This happens automatically on every send. The routing algorithm considers multiple factors: historical delivery rates by provider and recipient domain, current provider health status, bounce rates in the last 24 hours, and the content characteristics of your specific email. Over time, the system builds a detailed map of which provider works best for which destinations.

Content scoring

Before your email leaves our servers, AI analyzes the content for common spam triggers — excessive capitalization, suspicious links, missing unsubscribe headers, image-to-text ratio problems, and more. You get a deliverability score from 0 to 100 and actionable suggestions. Fix issues before they affect your reputation. The content scorer checks against known spam filter patterns from major ISPs including Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and corporate email gateways. It also validates your HTML structure, checks for broken links, and ensures your emails render correctly across email clients. Think of it as a linter for email deliverability.

Send time optimization

When you send an email matters more than most developers realize. Our AI learns recipient engagement patterns and optimizes delivery timing. Instead of sending everything at 2 AM when your cron job runs, your emails arrive when recipients are most likely to open them. This improves open rates and, over time, your sender reputation. ISPs like Gmail track engagement signals — if your emails consistently get opened and clicked, your sender reputation improves. If they're sent at times when users ignore them, reputation degrades. Send time optimization creates a positive feedback loop: better timing leads to better engagement, which leads to better reputation, which leads to better deliverability.

Measuring the impact

The impact of AI-powered deliverability compounds over time. Multi-provider routing eliminates single-provider outages as a deliverability risk. Content scoring catches problems before they affect reputation. Send time optimization improves engagement metrics that ISPs use to determine inbox placement. Together, these features create a system that continuously improves your email deliverability without requiring manual intervention. The AISend dashboard gives you full visibility into which providers are being selected, why, and how your deliverability metrics are trending.
